General Notes
Please only send one submission at a time and in one genre. Do not mix genres in your submission. If you publish a piece with us and later use it in another publication, we humbly ask that you credit us with its first appearance. If we turn down your submission, please wait at least 1 month before submitting again. Similarly, past contributors: please wait at least 3 months from publication of your piece before submitting to us again. We want to give other people a chance!
Please note that any submissions containing gratuitous or voyeuristic depictions of animal harm or violence will be rejected. We also reserve the right to no longer read your work in the future if you violate this!
Poetry
Please send us 3-5 poems (long poems are great! but only send one long poem at a time). Single or 1.5 spacing is preferred. Please use a standard typeface (not courier or other "typewriter" types though) and font size and do not use all-caps titles. Make sure your titles are clearly distinguished. Each work should be titled and separated by a page break. Pagination within the file is encouraged but not required. We do not accept translations.
Fiction
In a single .doc, .docx, .rtf, or .pdf file, please send us 1-2 flash fiction works under 1500 words each. Single or 1.5 spacing is preferred. Please use a standard typeface (not courier or other "typewriter" types though) and font size and do not use all-caps titles. Make sure your titles are clearly distinguished. Each work should be titled and separated by a page break. Pagination within the file is encouraged but not required. We do not accept translations.
Visual Art
Please send no more than 7 images. All artwork is considered if it can be digitally represented. E.g., photos of sculpture and textile are fine as long as you are the owner of the photos and the depicted piece. We do not accept interactive media art, however. Include titles of all artwork in the filenames of the images. We prefer .png, .jpg, and .gif files, but as long as we can view it, we will be happy. In a single .doc, .docx, .rtf, or .pdf file, please include details for each work including the medium and date as well as a 300 word or less artist's statement. Artwork is always paired with writing, so it may not be published right away. We will notify you when it is being posted. DO NOT SEND LINKS TO PORTFOLIOS OR WEBSITES. WE WILL NOT VIEW THESE.
Queries
Please email all queries to editors@cottonxenomorph.com with the subject line "Query". A SUBMISSION IS NOT A QUERY. We will not accept queries for nonfiction or reviews. If you are inquiring about the status of a submission, please wait at least 3 months from your submission date to do so.
